Beatballs
See what your favourite songs taste like with this web app that translates music into meatballs
Beatballs is converting your favourite songs into – yep – meatballs. Created by 54 students from the Interactive Art Director programme at Hyper Island in Stockholm, the project features a code developed to translate specific songs into various meatball recipes. Tempo, cadence, mood, key and other attributes boasted by the song in question are all factors that flavour your meatball.
To see what kind of meaty treat your favourite song translates into, just enter the artist or track into the Beatballs web app. Kendrick Lemar’s ‘Swimming Pools (Drank)’ morphed into 500g minced beef, 1 egg, 1 dl breadcrumbs, 1 dl beer, 2 tsp salt, 2 tsp pepper, 1 tsp ground ginger, 3 tbsp cheese, 2 tsp curry powder, 3 tbsp cream and half an onion – finely chopped. All complete with cooking instructions, too.
Like Glow in the Dark Ice Cream and IBM’s Cognitive Food Truck, we’re increasingly seeing a fusion of food and technology that fosters creativity and pushes culinary boundaries.
