Recently, the job market has shifted. Unemployment rates are, on the whole, declining, and many can afford to be more discerning when it comes to choosing their career. Yet, despite the shift, many job-search platforms still use outdated methods when it comes to matching potential candidates to employers.
A new platform, developed by two MIT alums, has developed a new approach to job hunting. Beansprock is a machine learning-based search platform that moves beyond simply the job spec and into a more well-rounded company and culture overview. To begin users fill out a questionnaire on their skills – what they are and which ones they’d like to use. They can decide then what it is they're looking for from an employer (options include company size, office locations, salaries, and work-life balance). Beansprock then sends you curated emails based on your preferences, to which users can provide feedback for even more tailored results.
While the platform is mainly centred on the tech industry for the moment, with time it's hoping to broaden its reach into more job sectors.
Beansprock is responding to a changing job market. The factors that drive people to take up positions don’t just have to do with salary and status, and job search sites are gradually responding to this.
