Thanks to a new app Asap54 the ever-expanding boundaries of shopping are being further stretched away from the confines of your traditional shop. Effectively operating as a Shazam for shopping, Asap54 transforms all of us into potential models. No longer will your descriptive writing skills be required trying to google items.

As founder Daniela Cecilio, who'd previously worked on fashion marketplace Farfetch, explains “I’m a very visual person and find it hard to describe what I see in words, so Googling emotions was a terrible exercise. I thought there has to be an easier and quicker way.”

The free downloadable app uses a combination of visual recognition technology, a social community and a team of fashion experts to trace items. Simply snap a picture of an item you like, be it on a billboard, in a magazine or on a passerby and send it over. If your item has been sourced it will be available to buy directly, if not, alternatives may be offered to you.

And it doesn't stop there, all good fashionistas know you need to accessorise, so the app will find clothing and accessories harnessing the same palette, print or pattern. So if you find yourself getting papped in the street tread with caution, or maybe take comfort in knowing you are contributing in the largest catwalk going.
