It’s not often you hear the words football and art in the same sentence. But the two have combined as London team Arsenal celebrates its 125th anniversary with a five-day art exhibition at the Saatchi gallery. Teaming up with Nike, the show was curated by mens’ fashion magazine Arena Homme+ and presents a unique opportunity to see photography and film celebrating the past, present and future of the club. Tomorrow is your last chance to explore the show. Not restricting itself to just art, the football club has also ventured into fashion and film to celebrate the milestone. Earlier this month it released the Arsenal 125 collection, a clothing range with Nike, and unveiled ‘Forever Forward’, a short film directed by photographer Ryan Hopkinson featuring Spike Lee, currently part of an installation at Nike’s 1948 space in East London. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen sports culture branch out into the arts. Projects such as i-D magazine’s Kick-Ups which we recently featured, where a football pitch is used as the setting to showcase fashion looks, reflect the interests of today’s style-conscious football fans.
