The growing presence of technology in our everyday lives has led to increased paranoia in how much information we pass on, and how much trust we place in machines. Dutch director Bobby Boermans has taken this underlying fear and made a film about every technophobe’s worst nightmare. App revolves around mysterious program that appears on a young woman’s phone and proceeds to cause all kinds of mayhem using her information.

What’s interesting about this project, apart from finding out why she doesn’t just turn her phone off, is that the film is accompanied by it’s own real life app that viewers are encouraged to download and use while watching the movie. From this they get some additional info about the unfolding story, text messages characters receive, insight into side plots and so on. For once you’ll be encouraged to have your phone on in the cinema.
