As far as we know, everything on this planet is made of a combination of just ninety-four naturally occurring elements. From Lithium to Iron to Xenon, the Earth is a surprisingly simple place. Taking inspiration from this fact, and partly as a way of bringing attention to the speed in which we are using up our natural resources, the 94 Elements international film project sees each of the different elements given the documentary treatment and having a story told around them.

The Oxygen, Gadolinium and Germanium films have already been made and Silver, telling a story of Dwayne’s Photo, the last photo lab in the world to process Kodachrome films by director Sarah George, (currently seeking funding on Kickstarter).

94 Elements was presented at SXSW and is looking to take the ambitious step of opening the Mix Lab, a way of contributors to submit films that act as ‘compounds’ of other elements. Other user’s films can be discovered by ‘cracking’ the compounds.
