For Season 2, we’re getting tangible on Good Growth by providing funding, support, and expertise for pilot projects submitted by our own wonderful members. To align our collective resources to improve our impact potential, the PRTN Community have just voted on our first mission:

“To bring underrepresented groups into the new economy.”

Out of the 34 submitted, there are 18 pilot projects in this cluster that are using web3 tools to engage with communities that the system neglected, or making it easier for communities from beyond the anglosphere to benefit from the tools and technologies of Web3. The projects include various BIPOC creator communities, organizations working with youth from underserved groups, and projects looking to either showcase and promote diverse cultures, provide translation services for them, or connect them to share strategies to sustainably manage their heritage sites. Next week, our members will be voting on which of these 18 will make the final selection.

In other news, we published our 100 Days a DAO piece, did our first Twitter Space, and we’re a guest on the Seed Club Podcast. We also have the iconic Latashá joining us live next Tuesday in the PRTN Discord, so RSVP below, as it’s going to be a good one 💚

OK, let’s get on with the links …

SMALL PRINT

Protein is a place where people and ideas grow 🌱 We do this through our global community, agency, and studio space. We believe we’ve all got a responsibility to think and act bigger than ourselves and that good growth can only be achieved by balancing progress, profit, and purpose.

Yes, we really have published 688 issues of this newsletter. The first Protein Supplement was sent on 17th September 1997 to 14 people and (other than a few breaks over the years) has always aimed to distill what’s happening at the intersection of culture and technology into a concise and accessible digest. If you’re interested in digging into the (incomplete) archive, you can here.

You can also find us on Discord, Mirror, Twitter, and Insta. We always like to hear from you and how we can improve what we do, so if you want to get in touch about anything, please use this form.
