Join the hunt for the Northern Lights in an interactive exhibition that reacts to sounds and touch
Not all of us will have a chance to see a natural wonder like the northern lights in our lifetimes. That's a luxury reserved largely for Joanna Lumley, Philip Pullman characters, adventurous tourists and the inhabitants of the Arctic countries they appear above. However designer Bertrand Lanthiez, (the brain behind the Hvsil - Whispers of Iceland book), wants to change that in his latest installation, 65º-75º.
With the intention of sharing the experiences of travelling through remote parts of Scandinavia in search of the Aurora Borealis, the project consisted of two parts, the first was a travel log detailing the events of Lanthiez's expedition, and the second was more interactive, with visitors to the exhibition were encouraged to explore a complex map that responded to touch and activated lights and sound in the space around them. To heighten the fleeting nature of the Lights, silence is compulsory as the projections are disrupted by external sounds.
