140
A potentially synaesthesia inducing platform game opens up the usual parameters of the medium by using music and sound as the 'environment'.
140 is a platform game in which players navigate an abstract, colourful world using a progressive, electronic soundtrack as a guide. Background music is brought to the forefront of 140, as players are forced to immerse themselves in audible, rather than typically visual stimuli to survive.
Much like the Singleton Sensorium and Bompass & Parr Beanz, 140 invites us to explore the relationship between our senses. The experimental side-scroller is set to provide an engaging medium for practising synaesthesia at home, while becoming the first its kind in the gaming world.
140 started development in the spare time of the acclaimed, independent video game creator Jeppe Carlsen (of Limbo fame) and is now gaining attention worldwide. The platformer has begun to acquire accolades even before it’s official release, picking up the Excellence in Audio award at the Independent Games Festival this year.
