100,000 Stars
This three-dimensional map of the Milky Way is probably the closest any of us will get to leaving the galaxy, this side of warp drive technology.
The latest addition to Googles' rapidly growing list of Chrome experiments, 100,000 Stars takes viewers on an interactive, intersteller journey starting at our Sun and ending beyond the Milky Way galaxy itself. Using the findings of various space explorations and studies, such as the Bright Star Catalogue from Yale University, Aaron Koblin (of Exquisite Forest fame), has put together a relatively accurate map of our closest stars, however due to the theoretical nature of long distance space travel Google wisely recommend that the map should not be "for interstellar navigation."
